The Race

Order of events will be as follows:  1. Run  2. Bike  3. Swim

The order has changed from prior years.  The run is a mass start.  The run is an out and back course at the UTPB campus.  The bike course is the same as last year.  It is an out and back bike course.  The swim is after the bike and there is no delay between the bike to swim transition.  All two race transitions are continuous and are similar to a typical swim bike run transition format. The swim is a snake format that allows for continuous racing.  Details regarding the snake swim format will be described in detail at the race.  This is a very common and simple swim format used by triathlons that use pools for their swim and will be easy to understand when described before the race.

500yd Pool Swim in waves of 16 triathletes per wave (50yd pool).

The bike is a 20k out and back on wide shouldered roads with minimal traffic (HELMET REQUIRED). The run is around the UTPB campus with little auto traffic (5k). The limit for number of entries is 112. So, sign up early. NOTE: Pick up of packet allowed race morning.  However, there is NO same day race sign up without prior arrangements.

The Time and Place

University of Texas Permian Basin Campus (UTPB) Pool ~ Odessa is located in West Texas ~ UTPB Pool is located near 42nd (Hwy. 191) & JBS Parkway.  Packet pick up day before the race at Central YMCA - 3001 E. University.
